Edge Lanna Workshop 2024

The Edge Lanna Workshop 2024 was held during Edge City Lanna, a month-long popup village in Chiang Mai, Thailand (October 10 – November 10, 2024). The workshop brought together protocol researchers and the Edge City community to examine how protocols operate in experimental living and governance contexts.

Chiang Mai's position as a major node in the global network of distributed workers, builders, and experimental communities provided rich real-world context for discussions about coordination across cultural, institutional, and technical boundaries. The workshop connected the Summer of Protocols research tradition with applied questions in community design, decentralized governance, and the organizational forms emerging at the intersection of technology and place.

Edge Lanna was the second Edge City collaboration of 2024, following the Edge Esmeralda Workshop in Healdsburg that summer.
