Researcher Retreat 2023

The inaugural Summer of Protocols researcher retreat was held at St. Edward State Park on Lake Washington, Seattle in August 2023. The gathering brought together the first cohort of Summer of Protocols fellows for an intensive in-person session at the outset of the program, establishing the intellectual agenda and research community that would carry through the SoP23 year.

The retreat format — intensive, in-person, removed from institutional settings — was designed to build trust and shared vocabulary among researchers who would otherwise work independently across multiple disciplines and locations. It marked the founding moment of what would become an ongoing research community around protocol theory and practice.
