Protocol Symposium 2025 — The Protocol Institute

The second annual Protocol Symposium was a week-long capstone event for the Summer of Protocols program, organized around the theme Accelerating Order. It brought together researchers, practitioners, and teaching fellows for three parallel tracks: a focused research workshop, a structured educational program, and collaborative coworking sessions.

Foundations Workshop

September 12–14, 2025 — Up to 30 participants, multiple Zoom sessions.

A focused research sprint with the goal of collaboratively developing a formal, mathematizable theory of protocols and producing a first-draft whitepaper and research program. Participants were researchers and practitioners selected by the program team.

Protocol School

September 15–19, 2025 — Twelve 90-minute learning modules over five days.

Twelve modules developed and delivered by 11 university teaching fellows, covering protocol theory and practice at a college level. Suitable for students, researchers, and professionals; some technology background was recommended. Certification was available for participants meeting requirements. Hackathons and Coworking

Open coworking and hackathon sessions interleaved with Protocol School modules, available to all attendees. Provided space for applied work and informal collaboration alongside the structured curriculum.
